On 20th April, 7.0-magnitude quake hit China's Ya’an Sichuan, where is one of the earthquake-prone areas in the world.
The death toll stands at 188, with more than 11,000 injured, state media report till 22nd April. Tens of thousands have been left homeless and in need of food and water.
We got connection with ferroalloys manufactures in Sichuan immediately, including Si plants in E’bian County and ferrochrome smelters in Ya’an. It was reported that shipments blocked by demanding transport especially road transport. Electricity supply had been less affected by quake.
Ferrochrome market kept stable in China, the main quotation of Sichuan stayed at RMB6800-6900/mt. Traffic disruption is expected to be repaired within several weeks. The further down room seemed to be limited in short future. It is predicted that ferrochrome market would stabilize since May.
