National Bureau of Statistics of China showed the crude steel output was 779.04 million tons, up 7.5% from 2012; ferroalloy output was 37.762 million tons, up 14.4% from 2012. The H2 of 2013 ferroalloy output enjoyed monthly increase, particularly monthly high output through Q4 and December output hit new high to 3.458 million tons, yearly output surpassing the previous predicted 35 million tons.

In terms of ferroalloy production regions, the top seven places were China's Guangxi, Inner Mongolia, Hunan, Guizhou, Ningxia, Sichuan and Qinghai provinces and autonomous regions. Guangxi ferroalloy output was 6.644 million tons, markedly up 27.8% from 2012; Inner Mongolia ferroalloy output was 4.301 million tons, greatly up 18.9% from 2012; Hunan ferroalloy output was 3.402 million tons, up 10.5% from 2012; Guizhou ferroalloy output was 3.25 million tons, up 5.1% from 2012; Ningxia ferroalloy output was 2.546 million tons, up 29% from 2012 and Sichuan ferroalloy output was 2.456 million tons, up 17.1% from 2012.

Although the Chinese government adopted polices of industry admittance and eradication of outdated capacity to reduce ferroalloy output, furnaces of greater power were launched and put into operation after smaller ones were eradicated, thus leading to increasingly expanded capacity.

Presently approved capacity was about 20 million tons, while 2013 ferroalloy output was close to 38 million tons. Environmental protection became hot issue in 2014 and the governments would be stricter in approving and lending loans to new established projects. Therefore, many numbers of ferroalloy projects were unlikely to be approved, which would curb the ferroalloy output in China.
